Boarding Area A with Gates A1 to A15 is slated to reopen on 1 September to accommodate the return of international flights.

Since the concourse was closed, the airport operated flights from one concourse.

The reopening also includes the Security checkpoint and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities for arriving flights for Gates A1 to A15.

However, the SFO Medical Clinic, Grand Hyatt at SFO and International Parking Garage A were operational since 1 April.

SFO’s facilities maintenance staff carried out work at the area during the closure period.

The work included the installation of physical distancing signage and marking, as well as clear plastic barriers for physical distancing.

The team also accelerated the work for the repair and maintenance of walkways and escalators, the repainting of interior surfaces and markings on the tarmac.

The airport replaced the lamps with LED lighting, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) filters, ceiling tiles and metal finishes.

Inspections and repairs were also carried out for doors, fire alarms and fire sprinklers.

Last month, SFO announced plans to cut down carbon emissions with Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel as part of its efforts towards net-zero carbon.

In April, SFO resumed the opening of the next phase of Harvey Milk Terminal 1.
