An Antonov An-148 aircraft has crashed in Ramenskoye near Moscow, Russia, killing all 71 people onboard.

Operated by Russian regional carrier Saratov Airlines, the Flight 703 took off with 65 passengers and six crew members from Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport at 2:21pm on Sunday.

The flight disappeared from the airport radar several minutes after take-off, said the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Debris of the aircraft was later found near the village of Stepanovskoe, approximately 50 miles south-east of Moscow, reported The New York Times.

The flight was en-route to Orsk, Orenburg, situated approximately 1,000 miles south-east of Moscow, near Kazakhstan, when it collapsed, reported The New York Times.

According to real-time tracker FlightRadar24, the aircraft lost altitude just six minutes after take-off.

The aircraft ascended to a height of 6,400ft before dropping to 5,800ft. It then rose again briefly and fell sharply to the ground.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry has deployed its fire and rescue divisions, ambulance brigades and other emergency services to the scene of the incident.

More than 150 people and 20 units of equipment are reportedly tackling the accident. The reason behind the crash has not been clear so far.

Russia’s Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) has already set up a commission to investigate the crash, reported TASS.
