A recently released fly-through animation highlights the magnitude of the proposed works, showcasing the transformative impact this investment will have on the airport’s infrastructure.

Perth Airport CEO Jason Waters stated that the “one airport” project is aimed at making the airport experience simpler and easing connectivity between international, interstate and regional flights.

He further stated that the new facilities would incorporate green elements, such as measures to lower water and energy consumption and cut down waste.

Waters assured that disruption will be minismised for travellers and airline partners due to sequencing of the construction works.

This airport handled 16 million passengers last year, with the capacity projected to near the 20 million mark in the coming decade.

Waters noted: “Construction has commenced on the multi-storey carpark, and works are underway at Terminal 2 to add more departure gates and seating. We will also add more car parks and make changes to the road network around T2 to improve traffic flow along the forecourt.

“We’ve partnered with Australia’s largest hotel operator, Accor, to operate the first hotel on the airport estate under the Pullman Hotels & Resorts brand. Design discussions with our airline partners are underway on the expanded international terminal and the new domestic terminal.”
