Propeller Airports has implemented a new fever detection system at Everett’s Paine Field to check the temperature of all passengers prior to their boarding in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Elevated Body Temperature Detection System, developed by Athena Security, is a non-invasive, non-contact technology. It alerts airport personnel when a passenger has a fever.

All passengers will be screened by a thermal camera that reads their body temperature before they enter the TSA checkpoint. Passengers detected as having a high temperature will undergo secondary screening to confirm the fever.

In case of passengers with fever, the airline will determine their ability to travel.

“The use of this system will allow us to maintain the seamless, safe and modern travel experience our customers have come to expect.”

Last month, Propeller launched a proprietary UV technology to disinfect the terminal. The technology is used by the airline to clean high-touch areas throughout the passenger terminal, including check-in kiosks.

Propeller Airports’ Paine Field Passenger Terminal started its commercial operations last year, following the receipt of authorisation from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The passenger terminal features two gates and covers an area of approximately 30,000ft². Earlier in February, Paine Field welcomed its millionth passenger.
