UK-based air traffic services and solutions provider NATS has introduced a new training course for users of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS), also known as drones.
Drone users will learn how to fly unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) safely and securely.

The new course will be available to private users, as well as small and large organisations using drones for commercial reasons.
Delegates will also be educated in navigation and meteorological studies, aviation law, principles of drone flying, and RPAS best practises.
The training programme also includes a practical flying assessment in line with safety and operational standards approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Participants will only be able to attend the course after they can successfully demonstrate their ability to fly a drone in a relatively small area.

By GlobalDataCommencing in May, the programme will be launched at NATS headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire, England.
NATS RPAS course leader Colin Houston said: "With remotely piloted aircraft systems becoming increasingly popular, we want to be able help people and companies use them safely in the airspace.
"Our tailored training course is provided by air traffic control (ATC) professionals with comprehensive operational RPAS experience."
Participants will need to pass both a theory and practical flying session to successfully complete the training course.
NATS has already provided several courses for drone flying from its Prestwick Control Centre in Ayrshire, Scotland.
