Tulsa International Airport has begun construction of a new 42,000ft² industrial manufacturing facility.

The facility will be built on an 8.5 acre site and will feature a dock high and drive-in loading and two bays with a 20t crane capacity.

It will be located near Spirit AeroSystems and the maintenance and engineering centre for American Airlines.

Construction crews at the airport have already prepared the property for the first structure.

Tulsa International Airport has leased the facility’s land to Industrial Developers of Oklahoma, which has selected commercial real estate company CBRE to secure a tenant.

The 136-acre Mingo development area has prime access to airport tenants, three major highways, as well as air and ground logistics operators.

Its area development plan contemplates a mixed use of the property for office, warehouse, and industrial purposes.

In addition to the new area, the airport is also planning to develop targeted properties within its 4,711 acre complex.

In March, Tulsa International Airport reported an 8.3% increase in the passenger traffic compared with the same month in 2013, representing the largest growth in airport activity since January 2008.
