The government of the Nigerian state of Bauchi has signed a N7.9bn ($50.25m) contract with Triacta Construction Company (TCC) to build a 3.4km runway at Bauchi International Airport.

The contract was awarded to the construction firm through a bidding process and the firm has already received a 70% down payment out of the $50.25m project cost.

TCC will complete the project within 18 months.

The runway will allow passengers to fly directly from Bauchi instead of taking flights from neighbouring states.
