TAV Airports, in partnership with Al Rajhi Group, has entered a 30-year concession deal to develop and operate two more international airports in Saudi Arabia.

Selected by Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), TAV Airports will now operate Qassim International Airport and Hail Airport, along with Madinah and Yanbu airports, which are located in the same region.

TAV Airports president and chief executive officer Sani Sener said: “TAV has become one of the world's highly-preferred brands thanks to the know-how acquired in airport construction and operation business.

“TAV's success in the Madinah Airport project, which was the first airport privatisation project in Saudi Arabia, opened new doors in this country.

“In the last two months, TAV has been selected by the Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia for the development and operation of three more airports.”

After the selection process has closed, the number of airports developed and operated by the company worldwide will reach 17, with four in Saudi Arabia.

Sener added: “With the addition of Qassim and Hail to our portfolio, the number of passengers in Saudi Arabia will increase to 10.5 million per annum; while the number of passengers at all airports abroad will reach 25 million.”

With the new investments, Qassim and Hail airports, which together handled approximately 2.5 million passengers last year, will be expanded to accommodate approximately 6.5 million passengers a year.
