Air transport IT provider SITA has deployed a new passenger processing platform at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)’s new terminal in Malaysia.
SITA’s AirportConnect Open platform automates passenger processing for Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2), allowing the airport and airlines to provide advanced services.
The SITA Departure Control System lowers the complexity of check-in and boarding, while its baggage applications will offer better luggage processing to ensure on-time departures.
KLIA2’s operator Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad operations services general manager Dato’ Azmi Murad said: "With SITA’s technology and support, KLIA2 is processing large numbers of passengers and their bags quickly and efficiently for great on-time performance."
SITA’s technology is expected to serve as an important platform for growth at the new terminal, which is forecast to handle over 24 million passengers over the next 12 months.
SITA Asia Pacific president Ilya Gutlin said: "We have collaborated with KLIA for nearly ten years, helping them innovate and transform their operations with new technology.
