Swedish aerospace and defence company Saab has been appointed by Swedavia, a state-owned company that owns and operates Sweden’s major airports, to provide three SR-3 surface movement radars for Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The radars will enhance airport security by detecting non-cooperative targets, including ground vehicles and aircraft.

Swedavia source Bo Hedman said: "The Saab SR-3 Surface Movement Radar was selected based on the competitive pricing.

"Thanks to its design and flexibility we can provide Swedavia with new surface movement radars that utilise interfaces for easy integration into existing or new air traffic control systems."

"Saab will replace our existing radars quickly, with limited downtime, starting this summer. The SR-3 technology will give Arlanda better performance during low visibility."

The new radars will provide unparalleled situational awareness and safety under all weather conditions.
