Qatar Airways has placed an order for three new G650ER aircraft with US-based plane maker Gulfstream Aerospace.

Part of a 30-aircraft sales deal announced last May between the two firms, the newly placed order is an addition to the three G650ER aircraft already in service and is available for charter with Qatar Executive, the business jet subsidiary of Qatar Airways.

An extended-range version of Gulfstream’s G650 aircraft, the G650ER is a twin-engine business jet airplane and is capable of flying 7,500nm/13,890 km and 6,400nm/11,853 km.

Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “The demand and desire for private air travel continues to grow and our strategy to offer only the newest and best private jets in the world to our loyal customers is paying dividends.

“We are seeing increasing bookings and a desire for longer range journeys."

The G650ER aircraft are equipped with a purpose-built business-jet cabin, wider seats, more aisle room and other facilities.

With the new order, Qatar Airways is planning to further expand its network in new routes, which include the world’s longest flight between Doha and Auckland, New Zealand.

Qatar Airways currently has a fleet of 186 aircraft flying to more than150 destinations across six continents.
