US-based aerospace organisation NORDAM has secured a contract to develop and supply an engine build-up system for Airbus’ A320neos aircraft, which is set to be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines.

NORDAM will design, integrate and deliver the specified combination of wires, ducts, brackets, anti-ice valves, tubing and other solutions required for the engine build-up system as part of the deal, which could be valued at more than £1bn over the span of the contract period.

The engine build-up system is designed to integrate the engine to the aircraft with several electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fire-detection and bleed-air systems.

NORDAM is expected to deliver the completed system to Airbus’ final-assembly lines in Toulouse, France; Hamburg, Germany; Tianjin, China; and Mobile, Alabama, US.

In addition, the newly awarded deal is set to create around 30 to 40 jobs, primarily in the fields of engineering, supply chain and logistics in the Tulsa region of Oklahoma, US, reported Tulsa World.

NORDAM also expects to use its engineering and supply chain units to provide the engine build-up system design and procurement of related components to Airbus.

Additionally, the latest deal will enable NORDAM’s Nacelle & Thrust Reverser Systems Division to provide its first engine build-up system for use on-board a commercial aircraft.

The division had previously delivered integrated power-plant designs for a range of business-jet customers.
