Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) is planning to launch NigComSat-1R to replace the NigComSat-1, which was lost in orbit on 10 November 2008.
NigComSat-1R, which has a lifespan of 15 years, will be sent into orbit from a launch site in China.

The satellite will carry seven antennae and 28 transponders to address redundancy and operates under the C, Ku, KA and L bands.
