The FMG operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) team secured the contract for the commissioning, relocation and operation of these airports in 2010.

This particular contract, which cost several millions, was in the run for about four and a half years. The expansion works at the airport, which includes the construction of the new terminal, will be completed by the end of 2016.

"Our expertise will continue to be eagerly sought after in the future, in particular in the Arabian Gulf region."

A new runway and control tower, which went operational in December 2014, were also part of the expansion.

The expansion at Salalah Airport will see the construction of a new runway, a new tower and an additional terminal.
