UK-based air navigation service provider NATS has selected the global security and aerospace company, Lockheed Martin, as its system integration partner to assist the company in its technology transformation programme.
The programme will help NATS provide improved and efficient services to its airport and airline customers.

NATS Director Supply Chain Tim Bullock said: "This is one of the most ambitious programmes NATS has ever undertaken and will transform how we manage air traffic in the UK, enabled by building a robust multi party collaborative supply chain.
"As such we need trusted partners like Lockheed Martin, with a proven track record of performance and capability, coupled with exemplary collaborative behaviours."
The programme will also introduce a precise air traffic system equipped with the ability to cater to the future demand.
As part of the deal, both the parties will work in collaboration to integrate and implement a multitude of technology services used to update operational services.

By GlobalDataThe deal will provide major Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research (SESAR) concepts, which include free route airspace, in the UK.
Lockheed Martin will also work with the other partners of NATS under a framework that follows BS11000 principles that combines a wide range of modern technologies.
Lockheed Martin director transport James Williamson said: "The programme to deploy SESAR based technologies is one of the most critical components of NATS strategy and for Lockheed Martin to be selected further cements the ongoing relationship between both companies".
Last December, the UK NATS’ cross-border arrivals management procedure, known as XMAN, entered permanent operational service at Heathrow Airport.
