Iran Space Agency (ISA) is planning to launch three indigenously built satellites, named Navid (Herald), Fajr (Dawn) and Kavoshgar (Explorer 5).

The Fajr satellite, which is equipped with hi-res imaging gear, will be able to stay in space for a year and a half in order to transmit pictures to stations on Earth.

Fajr is also fitted with a domestically made GPS navigation system.

The 285kg Kavoshgar 5 satellite was developed based on the Omid (Hope) satellite, which is designed to circle the earth 15 times a day, to transmit data via two frequency bands and eight antennas to an Iranian space station.

The 50kg Navid satellite can capture pictures in low altitudes of about 250km to 375km from the earth.
