The new system meets the Civil Aviation Authority's safety and efficiency standards, and will help the Latin American country handle its air traffic in even the most complex air spaces.

"Indra has also deployed new simulators for training air traffic controllers at the Iquique and Puerto Montt control centres."

Indra's solution automates control tasks, including plan management tools, safety networks, flight monitoring systems and medium-term transit prediction tools.

It also combines data from radars, multilateration (MLAT) / wide area multilateration (WAM), automatic dependent surveillance (ADS), direction finders, and air-ground data link messaging systems (ADS / CPDLC) in order to display information to air traffic controllers.

The new system will reduce the separation distance required between aircraft, increasing Chile's airspace capacity and allowing aircraft to choose safer, shorter routes that reduce fuel consumption and their environmental impact.

It supports automatic coordination between national and international control centres to enable faster flight transfers.
