In collaboration with the Chilean Civil Aviation Authority, Indra has upgraded control centres at Iquique, Puerto Montt and Punta Arenas, as well as the approach control centres at Concepción and Antofagasta.
As part of the project, Indra has also deployed new simulators for training air traffic controllers at the Iquique and Puerto Montt control centres.

The simulator is a replica of the real system that allows training can be carried out in a safe real-life environment.
Indra has also implemented an advanced air transit management system at the Chilean control centres.
The new system meets the Civil Aviation Authority's safety and efficiency standards, and will help the Latin American country handle its air traffic in even the most complex air spaces.
Indra's solution automates control tasks, including plan management tools, safety networks, flight monitoring systems and medium-term transit prediction tools.

By GlobalDataIt also combines data from radars, multilateration (MLAT) / wide area multilateration (WAM), automatic dependent surveillance (ADS), direction finders, and air-ground data link messaging systems (ADS / CPDLC) in order to display information to air traffic controllers.
The new system will reduce the separation distance required between aircraft, increasing Chile's airspace capacity and allowing aircraft to choose safer, shorter routes that reduce fuel consumption and their environmental impact.
It supports automatic coordination between national and international control centres to enable faster flight transfers.
