The Hong Kong Government Flying Service (GFS) has awarded an order to Bombardier Aerospace for two Challenger 605 aircraft for use primarily in search and rescue, as well as other special mission applications.

The GFS will replace the existing search and rescue aircraft with the Challenger 605 aircraft for long-range search and rescue operations.

The Challenger 605 offers a maximum range of 4,000nm (7,408km), providing mission flexibility, making it ideally suited for long intercontinental missions or frequent regional trips.

The aircraft will be manufactured at Bombardier’s facility in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and fitted with special mission equipment by a subcontractor to Bombardier.
