German and Dutch air navigation service providers DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) have entered agreements with Indra to develop and commission air traffic management (ATM) systems, iTEC centre automation system (iCAS).
Developed on the basis of Indra's iTEC technology, the iCAS will be installed at all DFS ATM control centres in Germany’s Karlsruhe, Bremen, Munich and Langen as well as the LVNL centre in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The newly signed agreements also mark the beginning of the second phase of the iCAS project, which modernise ATM control centres in the lower airspace with new solutions.
iCAS complements the solution that Indra will implement at Karlsruhe Upper Airspace Control Centre in Germany, from which DFS controls flights flying above 24,500ft across majority parts in the country.
In the first phase of iCAS, DFS’s existing ATM P1/VAFORIT system will be replaced.
DFS noted that the latest agreements would also boost the development of a common air traffic management system across Europe.
