Developed on the basis of iBlox technology, the new ‘intelligent airline seating’ system can also lock overhead bins during take-off, landing and turbulence to ensure safety and cabin environment monitoring.

The system can also be monitored in real-time by cabin attendants via mobile device during the flight using underseat wireless sensors.

Data can also be logged for later analysis, with option to provide useful information to help improve maintenance turnaround times on major components and the passenger experience.

“The future of air travel must be based on enhancing the passenger experience through sensible application of technology."

FliteTrak joint managing director Trevor Lea said: “The future of air travel must be based on enhancing the passenger experience through sensible application of technology.

“Our ViatorAero passenger comfort system has the power to make intelligent seating a reality for enhanced safety, comfort and inflight enjoyment of passengers.

“It can also revolutionise the role of the flight attendant by assisting them to provide enhanced customer service whilst also monitoring passengers of concern. ViatorAero is unique, technology which propels the Internet of Things into the sky, giving visionary airlines and suppliers the edge in an increasingly competitive market.”

According to the company, all data provided by ViatorAero is treated in confidence and are not connected with individual passenger names.
