Eurocontrol has replaced its AFTN / CIDIN system for the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) with Comsoft’s European ATM Communication Gateway (ECG) technology.

The new ECG system acts as an aeronautical messaging, front-end processor that connects flight data processing systems to the AFTN / AMHS network.

The system that was in use for the last 16 years was replaced in order to support the future transition from CIDIN / AFTN to AMHS.

MUAC provides air traffic control services, which are operated by four Eurocontrol member states in the upper airspace – above 7,500m – of Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and north-west Germany.
