Virgin Australia code-share agreement

Etihad Airways and Avianca S.A have entered a new code-share partnership agreement that will provide passengers with numerous benefits.

The latter’s flights operating between Bogota and London Heathrow and Madrid Barajas will carry the Etihad’s ‘EY’ code, while the former’s flights between Abu Dhabi and London and Madrid will carry Avianca’s ‘AV’ code.

The agreement allows Etihad Guest and Avianca LifeMiles passengers to earn air miles on the flights from May 2016. Other destinations will be added in the future.

Virgin Australia Holdings’ customers will be able to book Italian airliner Alitalia’s daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Rome and Milan Malpensa, starting from 15 April 2016.

The arrangement is a result of a code-share agreement announced between the two companies on 11 April.

Starting May 2016, the agreement will cover GOL-operated flights between Brasilia, Belem, Campo Grande, Cuiaba and Goiania, and between Manaus and Belem, which will carry Copa’s ‘CM’ code.

It also covers flights operating between Sao Paulo Guarulhos, Campo Grande, Fortaleza, Uberlandia and Vitoria.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will operate Mexican airliner Aeromexico’s flights to five destinations from Amsterdam, starting from 29 May 2016.

The routes covered under the code-share partnership include changes to Brussels, Copenhagen, Geneva, Rome, and Zurich.
