WAM and Automatic dependent surveillance – broadcast (ADS-B) capabilities are provided by Comsoft Solutions through its ultra-compact remote sensors and interrogators linked to a Quadrant Central Processor.

This helps provide an unparalleled ADS-B range of 250NM, as well as a superior capability to secondary surveillance radar (SSR), with a higher update rate and improved accuracy.

"With the increased tourism and en-route air traffic through Eastern Europe, advanced and high-quality surveillance has become essential in Poland."

The new WAM system includes nine Quadrant Sensors and four Quadrant Transmitters that are placed at different sites around the area of Gdansk.

The system offers PANSA a full Mode S surveillance capability, which includes enhanced surveillance, and continues to support air traffic with existing Mode A/C technology.

It also includes a dynamic interrogation management technique developed by Comsoft Solutions to ensure that only minimum interrogation rates and power are used for each flight, securing the SSR radio frequencies against overuse.

With the increased tourism and en-route air traffic through Eastern Europe, advanced and high-quality surveillance has become essential in Poland.

The WAM System not only supplements existing radar in the central region, but also extends coverage into areas not fully covered by the current Gdansk radar.

With WAM’s flexibility, the coverage can be extended further by making a simple addition of new sensor sites.
