All airport security groups have received directives from CISF, which guards all vital installations in the country, to start an ‘intelligent’ profiling of suspicious travellers in order to save time and reduce hassles. However, the regular pre-embarkation security frisking of passengers will continue for some time.

"We have decided to substitute the ritual checking of passengers with a new protocol of tactical profiling."

Trained for ‘unobtrusive’ security mechanism, CISF officers will carry out surveillance through CCTV cameras to profile suspicious or fraudulent passengers.

CISF chief Arvind Ranjan said: "We have decided to substitute the ritual checking of passengers with a new protocol of tactical profiling.

"After months of training, we have prepared our personnel, who are adept in the profiling of suspicious or fraudulent passengers, thereby reducing the time taken to screen fliers."
