US-based aviation research and testing services provider Calspan Holdings has purchased Triumph Aerospace Systems – Newport News, a subsidiary of Triumph Group, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal also includes the company's force measurement systems (FMS) division, located in San Diego, California, US.

Effective from 30 September, the newly acquired company will operate as Calspan Systems from its current headquarters in Newport News, Virginia.
It will also retain its existing management, technical and support staff.
Complete integration of the companies is scheduled to be concluded by the end of 2016.

Calspan Systems will design, engineer, manufacture and maintain various aero structures, aircraft components, accessories, subassemblies and systems.
During Triumph Group’s fiscal year ended on 31 March, the company generated revenues of around $18m.
Triumph Group president and CEO Dan Crowley said: “The sale will allow Triumph to focus more intently on our core business capabilities.
“I am confident that under Calspan the company will have greater opportunities for growth.”
Earlier this year, the company announced a transformation plan to enhance its position in the market.
In October, Triumph Group bought Fairchild Controls from Airbus Defense and Space.
The acquired company provides proprietary thermal management systems, auxiliary power generation systems and related aftermarket spares and repair services.
