Designed to comply with Bombardier’s approach to test article safety, the system includes Moog-developed and manufactured products such as an active load abort system and an upgrade from a 12 to 24 channel aerospace control and monitoring system.

It also comprises machine controller and structural test actuators with Servo Valves, with each actuator featuring a specially designed active safety manifold, which forms part of the overall Abort System.

"The active load abort system helps during the primary loading system failure."

The active load abort system helps during the primary loading system failure, by using a Moog Machine Controller to synchronously unload the structure over a common time period, while maintaining the desired load distribution.

It will also protect the test article eliminating undesirable and unrepresentative loading being applied to a unique test article, which has already accumulated valuable fatigue testing hours.

Moog’s new safety management system complies with Bombardier’s requirements as part of an essential secondary control system which will provide an extra level of protection to the test article.

This test system is currently being commissioned at Bombardier’s facilities in Belfast, before the starting of fatigue testing.
