Boingo Wireless has been selected as the exclusive Wi-Fi and distributed antenna system (DAS) provider at São Paulo’s GRU International Airport in Brazil.

Boingo will design, install and manage advanced Wi-Fi and DAS networks at the airport, which is largest in South America, serving more than 35 million passengers annually.

The US-based Wi-Fi provider will offer comprehensive coverage and increased data capacity throughout the facilities, including the airport’s newest terminal.

Boingo noted that, as a result of its neutral approach to Wi-Fi and DAS, all carriers and their customers will have network access without bias.

GRU Airport CIO Luis Ritzmann said: "Boingo’s industry-leading Wi-Fi and distributed antenna services and new, state-of-the-art networks will help us meet the data demands of our travellers, and will ensure an excellent experience even during peak usage times."

Boingo will provide complimentary Wi-Fi access to all travelers, while offering premium connectivity options to travelers who want to engage in high-bandwidth activities.

It will also handle Wi-Fi sponsorship and advertising services for the airport, and will be managing private services delivered through the Wi-Fi network timed to the launch of the new, enhanced networks.

Boingo Wireless Latin America account management vice-president Zack Sterngold said: "GRU Airport is an ideal location for our first DAS deployment in South America."

Boingo provides Wi-Fi in more than 75 airports around the globe, including Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International, London Gatwick and Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino.
