UK-based construction company Balfour Beatty has won a £180m contract to provide infrastructure works at London’s Heathrow Airport.
Under the deal, the construction company will work together with the airport to maintain and upgrade Terminals 1, 2 and 4 over the next three years, through the Delivery Integrator Framework Lot 1.

This marks the first of four new-style framework contracts to be awarded to Balfour Beatty by Heathrow, each designated for a different section of the airport.
Under the new frameworks, the airport will appoint a single contractor to deliver a programme of projects, which will enable Heathrow to increase the year-on-year savings on its capital investment programme.
Balfour Beatty executive chairman Steve Marshall said: "We have worked with Heathrow for 15 years and we will continue to bring our capabilities to our work at Terminals 1, 2 and 4; and play our part in helping the airport maintain its position as a leading travel hub."
The contract is part of Heathrow’s £1.5bn investment package for the development and upgrade of the airport.

By GlobalDataAs part of the contract, Balfour Beatty will offer its services as programme manager and contractor at various stages of the framework, as well as deliver individual projects, which value between £500,000 and £70m.
Projects under the framework will range from structural improvements to multiple asset replacements, such as passenger conveyors, escalators, passenger and goods lifts, air-conditioning systems, retail areas, CCTV, access and security systems.
The contract also includes an option to extend the framework for a further two years, which would be worth up to an additional £70m.
Balfour Beatty will employ its in-house expertise to deliver the framework, which includes design, engineering, construction, mechanical and electrical capabilities, in addition to building information modelling that will enable full 4D design specification for Heathrow.
The construction company has worked with Heathrow on two previous frameworks, offering significant infrastructure projects for the Terminal 5 facility, in addition to multiple asset development projects across the airport.
Balfour Beatty is currently delivering the new £590m Terminal 2B facility as part of the Terminal 2 complex, which is scheduled to open later this year.
