The contract was awarded by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Civil Aviation Department of the Bahamas (CAD).

Indra will also provide the largest airport in Bahamas with a new approach control centre that features its Garex voice communication systems along with a new training centre equipped with two simulators for traffic controllers.

These systems, which will be launched soon, are capable of covering 250nm from the airport, thereby enhancing air safety in the area.

In the new training facility for controllers, an approach simulator equipped with air control positions has been deployed to strengthen the capacity of the airport’s control centre, if bombarded by high traffic volume.

The second simulator is a control tower simulator with a panoramic view producing ultra-realistic aircraft movements. The general safety and the operator’s efficiency can be improved using these systems.

With the launch of the new approach control centre and the simulation centre at Lynden Pindling airport, Indra has managed to extend its business to the Caribbean region in Latin America.

Indra works in collaboration with Central American Air Navigation Corporation (COCESNA) in Central America, which oversees air traffic control operations in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize and Nicaragua.
