Norway’s Avinor Air Navigation Services (ANS) has signed its first contract with Indra to upgrade the country’s air traffic management (ATM) system within the iTEC alliance.
Under the framework agreement, a new training platform will be introduced to allow air traffic controllers to familiarise themselves with Indra’s iTEC ATM.

Also, the contract will enable the development of detailed requirements for the systems, which are slated to be deployed in the Avinor ANS control centres.
Indra director general Rafael Gallego said: “iTEC is a new and very advanced air traffic control system designed to meet the Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR) requirements of the European Commission and we are very satisfied that Avinor, as member of the iTEC Alliance, had decided to use iTEC technology as the basis for its operational systems.”
Within the iTEC Alliance, Avinor will work in collaboration with NATS, both of which are part of the same ‘System Group’, which means that they will share the development costs.
Avinor ANS chief executive officer Anders Kirsebom said: “This initial contract is an important first stage towards nationwide deployment of our new air traffic management system by mid-2022, enabling us to provide the best possible services to our customers, at the lowest possible price.”
