Global threat detection solutions supplier American Science and Engineering (AS&E) has received an order to deliver a Z Portal cargo screening system and several Gemini parcel inspection systems to Iraq’s Najaf International Airport.
The systems will provide a complete detection solution, allowing the airport officials to easily scan vehicles and baggage for threats including weapons, drugs, vehicle-borne modern explosive devices (VBIED).

Najaf International Airport has also signed a five-year contract to continue support from AS&E’s service team.
AS&E president and CEO Chuck Dougherty said: "Customers with vital security missions rely on AS&E’s proven technology to meet their detection requirements in high-threat environments.

AS&E secured the contract in collaboration with its distributor, ASJ, based in Najaf, Iraq.

AS&E’s Z Portal system can offer multi-view, drive-through screening for side and top-down screening of cars, trucks and vans, along with their cargo.
Its Gemini parcel inspection system allows precise threat detection for small hand-carried items, parcels, mails and luggage screening.
AS&E’s X-ray detection systems help aviation screening operations and are used by several customers across Latin America, Africa, Asia and the European Union.
