Commercial airports in Beijing, Tianjin and Shijiazhuang, China, have signed an air traffic agreement to coordinate their operations and development.
Governments of both of the cities have agreed that Beijing Capital International Airport should get most of the large, international flights in the region, while the small, domestic flights should go to the other two airports.

The aim of the agreement is to form a rapid, efficient, safe and cost-effective integrated air transport sector.
While the Tianjin airport will cater to cargo transport, the Shijiazhuang Zhengding International Airport will work towards promoting air courier delivery services and low-cost airlines, according to the statement.
The China Daily quoted Shi Boli, general manager of Beijing Capital as saying that less than 30% of flights handled by the airport are international, which is far less than those of foreign airports of the same size.
Boli was quoted as saying: "Under the agreement, some domestic flights we are handling now will be moved to airports in Tianjin and Hebei, substantially reducing our heavy burden and enabling us to focus on international service."

By GlobalDataDeputy director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China was quoted by the China Daily as saying that the move will further the central government’s efforts to integrating the development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.
The administration has also urged the three signing parties to support the construction of a new airport in Beijing and to make sure that it becomes operational in 2019.
A general aviation airport will also be built outside Beijing to handle general aviation flights, which presently use Beijing Capital International Airport.
