Airbus has selected Thales as main supplier of high-bandwidth connectivity (HBC) solutions, which will be deployed on A320, A330 and A380 aircrafts in linefit and retrofit mode.

Thales’s HBC solutions will provide passengers the bandwidth they require during their travel and airlines with the connectivity solution that meets their operational requirements.

HBC solutions are designed to act as standalone or connected to an in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.

Thales’s in-flight entertainment and connectivity portfolio includes new technologies, a global support network and an ecosystem that provides airlines services to improve their operational efficiencies and increase passenger engagement.

Previously, Airbus selected Thales’s GX connectivity solution for its A350 platform.

Separately, Thales has been selected by China-based Hainan Airlines to equip the carrier’s A330 fleet with the new IFE innovations.

Thales will install its AVANT IFE system on Hainan Airlines’ future fleet of A330 wide-body aircraft, the first of which is expected to enter service next year.

Currently, the airline operates Thales IFE systems on its fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

AVANT has already been selected by 19 airlines and globally over 230 aircraft are flying with the system.
