Abu Dhabi Airports has received the go ahead from the Abu Dhabi Government for three projects that support the development of the overall infrastructure programme of Abu Dhabi International Airport
The projects are in line with the current construction of the midfield terminal building (MTB), which is set to open in July 2017.

They are being taken up with an investment of AED1.65bn ($449m), and include the development of new aircraft hard stands, an automated passenger mobility (APM) system, and an airside road tunnel under the southern runway.
Abu Dhabi Airports company chairman Ali Majed Al Mansoori said: "Our initiatives and projects are set to deliver highly efficient and world class infrastructure, which caters to the growth of the aviation sector in the region and will be a proud national landmark for generations to come."
Construction of the hard stands has already started and is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
The APM project is aimed at connecting passengers between the MTB and the future satellite terminals at the airport, while the third project covers the construction of the southern runway tunnel. This will connect the MTB to the existing terminals, thereby allowing the terminals to operate at full capacity.
