United Airlines (UA) has awarded new cargo contracts to aviation logistics specialist Menzies Aviation to support operations at Sydney (SYD) and Melbourne Airports (MEL) in Australia.

In addition, Menzies also renewed the ground handling contracts with the carrier at the same airports.

Following these agreements, Menzies will now offer ground handling services to United Airlines across all of its network in the continent.

The deal also covers the provision of services at Brisbane in the case United flights resume operations there.

The company will start providing complete cargo handling services to the carrier from the end of this month. This cargo partnership will continue for the upcoming three years.

Under the renewed ground handling contracts, United Airlines will receive passenger and ramp handling services from Menzies over the next three years at Sydney and Melbourne.

Menzies Oceania and South East Asia executive vice-president Alistair Reid said: “We are proud to see our relationship with United Airlines go from strength to strength, as a key customer for Menzies not only in Australia but globally. The Menzies teams at Melbourne and Sydney have provided a consistently excellent service over the past 14 years, which has laid the groundwork for our new cargo agreements.”

United Airlines procurement senior category manager Beth Mohr said: “United is pleased to extend our ground handling agreement for another three years and we look forward to expanding our partnership with Menzies to include cargo.”

Recently, Menzies entered full-service ground handling agreements with Canadian low-cost carrier Flair Airlines.

The partnership between Menzies Aviation and Flair Airlines expands the existing alliance between the two parties to include around nine of the 19 stations in the carrier’s domestic network.
