Enhancements to the terminal building were completed last year, including new sun-control window films in the departure lounge. These help block the UV light more efficiently and save more electricity.

As part of the upgrade, new boarding counters have also been installed in front of the boarding gate to increase efficiency.

“MIA said in a statement that it is expecting daily passenger volumes to reach more than 20,000 during Chinese New Year, seeing a 5% increase in normal traffic.”

In addition, a new baggage handling system has been installed at the arrival hall aiming to help passengers obtain their luggage faster.

New ceiling and floor designs have also been included as part of the revamp intended to provide a more comfortable and spacious environment for passengers.

MIA said in a statement that it is expecting daily passenger volumes to reach more than 20,000 during Chinese New Year, seeing a 5% increase in normal traffic.

To match this expected traffic growth, the airport says that it will increase security check channels and supply 5% more staff at security control.

MIA further noted that development of its newly opened extension has received support from the Government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR).
