Ireland West Airport has begun work on a €15m facilities investment plan, which aims to transform the airport over the next three years.
The plan involves the development of new passenger facilities, upgrading the existing terminal and conducting infrastructural works across the hub and the runway.

By the end of next year’s first quarter, Ireland West Airport intends to complete nearly €4m worth of major infrastructural works.
This will help improve the operational efficiency and upgrade the airport’s facilities and services.
Ireland West Airport managing director Joe Gilmore said: “This latest facilities investment programme will adapt, modernise and transform the airport with contemporary elements and future-proof services.
“It will make the airport more efficient, provide greater flexibility and resilience to the passengers and ensure an even more comfortable and easier journey through the airport.”

By GlobalDataThis year, Ireland West Airport has started a series of critical projects on its runway to ensure the highest standard of airport safety and operations.
The scope of the projects includes replacement of existing runway lighting and fittings, major airfield drainage programme, modernisation of the runway’s instrument landing system and additional minor site works.
In 2019, the airport will begin work on a more than €10m project that will see the overlaying of its 2.5km-long runway in order to make it capable of serving the region for the next 30 years.
The airport transformation programme will help boost the local economy.
Ireland West Airport will use the services of several local contractors and suppliers to carry out some of the projects.
