Gogo has secured a contract to provide its 2Ku in-flight connectivity solution to Air Canada’s Bombardier CS300 aircraft fleet.

Air Canada currently has 45 CS300 aircraft on order with an option to buy 30 additional aircraft.

Under the new deal, the airline made a commitment to install the Gogo solution on more than 170 narrow and widebody aircraft. It is set to be installed as a line-fit option at Bombardier.

Gogo president and CEO Oakleigh Thorne said: “Air Canada was the first in Canada to deploy the service on their entire mainline fleet of aircraft.

“They have been at the forefront of technology adoption and we are excited to deploy 2Ku on additional aircraft.”

Air Canada Product vice-president Andrew Yiu said: “At Air Canada, we continually seek to elevate the travel experience.

“By combining Gogo’s 2Ku in-flight connectivity, giving customers the ability to work, be entertained and communicate in-flight, and Bombardier’s next-generation aircraft, we will be able to offer our customers a superlative level of on-board service.”

In February, Gogo was selected to install the 2Ku solution on nine additional Boeing 737-800NG aircraft operated by Aeromexico.

The order has increased the number of Aeromexico Boeing 737-800NG aircraft equipped with the solution to 29.

Gogo is expected to install the 2Ku technology on more than 2,000 aircraft, serving 16 of the world’s major airlines.
