UK business aviation airport Farnborough Airport has partnered with automotive manufacturer BMW to use the company’s electric i7 vehicles as part of a four week showcase for its guests.
Part of Farnborough’s Brand Partnership Programme, the deal will see three i7 vehicles temporarily added to the airport’s fleet of electric vehicles used to chauffer guests to and from aircraft.
Simon Geere, CEO at Farnborough said: “We are delighted to be partnering with BMW to elevate the travel experience at Farnborough Airport.
“The collaboration with BMW and the showcase of their all-electric i7 not only reflects our dedication to providing a unique guest experience, but it also highlights our commitment to innovation.”
BMW said that as part of the experience, which will also see the i7 displayed at the airport terminal, the company looked forward to hearing feedback from Farnborough passengers about the vehicle.
Despite being the busiest private jet airfield in the UK, Farnborough has sought to position itself as a sustainability focussed airport through actions such as installing solar panels across its site and hosting the end of the first transatlantic flight using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

However, Farnborough has also been attempting to overcome significant protests against its plans to expand the number of flights operating from the airport with activists such as Greta Thunberg campaigning to halt the plans, citing the significant impact of private jets on the environment.
