Dubai-based air services provider dnata has signed a lease with Sydney Airport (SYD) to expand its current cargo handling facility.
The facility will be expanded by another 4,800m² under the five-year lease, enlarging the site to 16,300m².

With direct ramp access, the facility will offer more landside and airside docks, increased processing capacity and throughput, along the option to scale.
By the middle of this year, an extra truck hoist will be deployed, adding to the on-airport warehouse’s existing hoist.
Furthermore, forwarders with airside accredited drivers will now be able to accommodate their intact units at the bypass.
dnata Australia managing director Brett Fuller said: “This expansion provides strategic and operational benefits for dnata to support continued cargo volume growth driven by increased customer demand.”

Catering to over 20 airline clients, dnata handles nearly 300,000t annually in the region.
The air services provider also manages cool chain facilities in Sydney Airport and Melbourne Airport (MEL).
These facilities were developed to offer a temperature-controlled handling and storage solution to the customers of airlines.
Furthermore, the company is responsible for managing two cool dollies each at both airports.
This enables dnata to manage the supply chain in a better way while handling temperature-sensitive cargo.
The company claims to be the sole air services provider to have won the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification for the pharmaceutical handling services in Australia.
Currently, it provides ground handling, cargo and catering services at 127 airports in 19 nations.
In a statement, the company said: “In recent years dnata has invested significantly in infrastructure, equipment and training to provide the most innovative solutions to the market.”
