The Libyan Civil Aviation Authority has awarded a contract to ENAV, an air navigation services provider based in Italy, for the modernisation of existing control tower equipment at Tripoli International Airport.

ENAV will be responsible for the delivery and installation of three new workstations for air traffic controllers under the contract.

The €2m ($2.28m) contract also includes integration of data and wireless network infrastructure along with the deployment of ground-air-ground and ground-ground communication systems.

The modernisation is intended to enhance the airport’s navigational services and safety features.

Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) has agreed to offload its 50.01% stake in London Gatwick Airport to VINCI Airports in a $3.68bn transaction.

GIP will continue to hold the remaining 49.9% stake in the airport.

The partnership enables Virgin Atlantic to offer more access to its passengers to multiple destinations across the US, UK, and Mexico.

Virgin Atlantic and Aeroméxico share the same terminal in Orlando, New York, Havana, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta airports.

The agreement is also intended to bolster the existing ties between the UK and Mexico.

AS Air Lease Holdings 5T DAC intends to acquire Merah Aviation Asset Holding Limited (Merah Aviation) from AirAsia Group Berhad (AAGB) for MYR3.22bn ($768m).

AS Air Lease is an indirectly owned entity of Castlelake LP, a private investment firm.

The agreement has been signed between AAGB’s indirect wholly owned subsidiary Asia Aviation Capital Limited (AACL) and Castlelake.

The transaction also includes the purchase of four new aircraft from AACL, which will be delivered in 2019. It is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2019.
