PASSUR Aerospace has secured a contract from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in the US to provide a new collaborative solution provided by PASSUR Regional Diversion Manager (PASSUR RDM).

PASSUR RDM operates on PASSUR’s airlines and airports network, along with other key aviation stakeholders to reduce the impact of weather events and the resulting diversions.

The solution provides real-time information from more than 20 airports in the DFW region and enables the instantaneous exchange of this data among all users.

“We believe PASSUR RDM will contribute to a more pleasant passenger travel experience by reducing the effect of major weather events.”

During adverse weather events, it enables the airports and the operating airlines to make advance decisions on diversion and identify the best-prepared airport to receive the aircraft.

PASSUR president and CEO Jim Barry said: “We applaud DFW’s leadership, innovative spirit, and execution in once again transforming travel by working with their airlines and diversion airports to help passengers stay on schedule during major weather events.

The usage of PASSUR RDM is expected to reduce costs and optimise service during difficult weather conditions by keeping the airlines closer to on-schedule, reducing extended delays and decreasing the risk of Department of Transportation (DOT) tarmac delay fines.

PASSUR’s overall suite comprises three components: PASSUR ATC Portal, PASSUR Diversion Manager and PASSUR RDM.

The PASSUR ATC Portal allows the airlines, airports and Air Traffic Control (ATC) to determine the optimal capacity at the right time through a data-driven machine learning solution, while PASSUR Diversion Manager enables the airports and airlines to manage diversions and minimise their impact.

PASSUR RDM notifies airlines in advance to allow them to make necessary adjustments to flight plans for diversion, as well as assisting the recovery of aircraft to the destination airport in the shortest possible time.
