Collins Aerospace Systems has entered a multi-year agreement with El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, Colombia, to safeguard the airport from cyber threats.

The company will deploy its full suite of ARINC airport solutions and also aims to improve the passenger processing experience.

Each solution will be supported by ongoing system monitoring by the Collins Aerospace Cybersecurity Operations Center and a cyber engineering team.

The agreement will see Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of United Technologies, provide El Dorado International Airport and its operator Operadora Aeroportuaria Internacional (OPAIN) with several solutions.

The solutions include MUSE agent-facing check-in, which manages operations and provides data analytics to improve airport efficiency, self-service check-in kiosks to reduce wait times at check-in, and ARINC AviNet Airport connectivity to provide passengers and airlines with security and data integrity within the airline’s virtual network space.

Other solutions include a local departure control system, which provides passenger check-in and boarding, ARINC Baglink baggage messaging, which enables remote sorting and routing of baggage to save time, and a 24/7 on-site support and help desk.

Collins Aerospace vice-president of global airport systems Christopher Forrest said: “El Dorado International Airport provides a critical service in Latin America, and with Collins Aerospace’s latest technology passengers will experience a more streamlined journey from the time they enter the airport to the time they board their plane.

“We are currently in the process of installing the new equipment and we plan to be operational this summer.”

Based in Annapolis, Maryland, the Collins Aerospace Cybersecurity Operations Center provides 24/7 network traffic monitoring.
