Bombardier noted that the system is aviation’s first circadian rhythm-based cabin lighting technology entirely combined with the Flight Management System.

The lighting system brings on to the fore the Dynamic Daylight Simulation feature, which aims to help address jet lag on long-distance flights.

Bombardier Business Aircraft sales and marketing senior vice-president Peter Likoray said: “The Global 7500 jet is the world’s longest-range purpose-built business aircraft with an unrivalled cabin experience.

“The Soleil lighting system helps passengers arrive at their destination feeling more rested and refreshed.”

“Along with the aircraft’s master suite with a full bed, stand-up shower and exceptionally smooth ride, the Soleil lighting system helps passengers arrive at their destination feeling more rested and refreshed.”

The company noted that the Dynamic Daylight Simulation technology uses specific combinations of red and blue light wavelengths. According to studies, these wavelengths have the ability to stimulate or suppress melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep cycles.

The technology’s impact on melatonin production can help contribute to synchronising circadian rhythms of passengers to the time at their destination.

Soleil’s circadian adjustment setting also allows the system to be customised to a passenger’s preference for either extended sleep or productivity.

In addition, the lighting system can be programmed to schedule meal times to enable cabin crews to prepare and plan more efficiently.

The system is designed to maximise comfort and relaxation for passengers while traversing different time zones.

Operational since last December, the Global 7500 aircraft can be used for long-haul flights exceeding 16 hours.
