Alaska Airlines has opened its first Alaska Lounge on the East Coast at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in the US.

Located on the mezzanine level of Terminal 7, the lounge is designed like a living room and is equipped with multiple seating areas for business and leisure travellers.

The lounge is open to all first-class ticket holders and Alaska Lounge members.

“We’re also thrilled to be the first domestic lounge to introduce a full menu of barista-pulled handcrafted espresso beverages.”

Alaska Airlines guest products managing director Brett Catlin said: “We’re always looking to create warm, welcoming experiences for our guests.

“Our newest Alaska Lounge at JFK reflects the future of our lounge offering – a signature West Coast vibe, unique beverage selections and a focus on fresh, healthy food options. We’re also thrilled to be the first domestic lounge to introduce a full menu of barista-pulled handcrafted espresso beverages.”

The lounge includes Starbucks-trained baristas and offers passengers access to complimentary fresh foods.

Guests can also test a variety of microbrews, West Coast wines or a signature cocktail from the lounge’s welcoming bar.

Besides the new JFK lounge, Alaska has lounges in Anchorage, Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon and three in Seattle.

Alaska Lounge membership also gives access to more than 90 airport lounges across the globe in cities such as Chicago, London, Tokyo, Sydney, and Paris.

Alaska Airlines and its regional partners fly 44 million passengers every year to more than 115 destinations with an average of 1,200 daily flights across the US and to Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica.
