Russian flag carrier and SkyTeam alliance member Aeroflot has received its first A350-900 aircraft from Airbus.

Following the delivery, Aeroflot has become the launch operator of the latest-generation wide-body aircraft in eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

With a total of 22 A350-900 aircraft on order, Aeroflot operates an Airbus fleet of 126 planes, which include 107 A320 family and 19 A330 family aircraft.

As the cornerstone member of Airbus’ all-new A350 XWB family, the A350-900 features a new livery and a brand new cabin design to offer passenger comfort.

It also has a spacious three-class cabin layout with 316 seats that include 28 private Business Class suites with full-flat seats, 24 Comfort Class and 264 Economy Class.

Additionally, the aircraft is equipped with the latest-generation Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, HD screens and Wi-Fi connectivity to provide an improved experience for all long-haul passengers.

The A350-900 will be operated by Aeroflot from Moscow to destinations such as London, Dubai, New York, Miami, Osaka and Beijing.

The A350 XWB offers design operational flexibility and efficiency for all market segments, including ultra-long-haul.

The aircraft also features an aerodynamic design, a carbon fibre fuselage and wings, and new fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines.

These latest technologies are collectively expected to result in a 25% reduction in operating costs, fuel burn and CO2 emissions.

Airbus noted that the A350 XWB family had received 935 firm orders from 50 customers worldwide, at the end of January.
