Cyrrus is delighted to have been selected for an upcoming project at Doncaster Sheffield Airport. The team will undertake the airspace change for the introduction of satellite-based aRea Navigation (RNAV) standard instrument departures (SIDs) at the airport with work commencing imminently.
The Gamston VOR will be withdrawn by NATS as part of the National VOR rationalisation programme, which is approved by the CAA. Due to this change in the navigation infrastructure, the existing conventional SIDs at Doncaster Sheffield Airport will need to be changed to RNAV SIDs. In addition, the airport has decided to introduce new RNAV GNSS instrument approach procedures (IAPs) to compliment the RNAV departures.
The introduction of the new RNAV (GNSS) SIDs and the IAPs form part of a compliance project with the CAA’s Future Airspace Strategy (FAS) and policies for the implementation of performance-based navigation (PBN) in the UK.
