Raytheon Technologies business Collins Aerospace has extended its air materials support service agreement with China Southern Airlines for its fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft.

This is said to be in addition to the current Dispatch flight hour support agreement for avionics onboard the airline’s planes.

Dispatch offers critical on-site spares, as well as access to global asset pools and OEM-quality maintenance while being customised to meet the requirements of various airlines.

It also offers technical support for Collins avionics.

Collins will support China Southern’s next-generation platforms, and its existing aircraft, under the power-by-the-hour programme.

Commenting on the development, Collins Aerospace Services and Support vice-president Lisa Steffen said: “The extension demonstrates China Southern’s trust in Collins Aerospace and our global network of service centres to continue to provide our technical expertise.”

With the extension of this agreement, the operational risk of the Chinese carrier is expected to decrease.

China Southern Material Management senior director Zeng Xiaoliang said: “This builds a strong foundation for future collaboration on the Dispatch programme and capability building with Collins Aerospace.”

Last February, Collins Aerospace forged a long-term maintenance repair overhaul (MRO) agreement with Singapore Airlines and Scoot.

The agreement tasked Collins Aerospace with offering MRO services to Singapore Airlines Group’s 55 Boeing 787 aircraft.

Collins also extended its existing FlightSense programme with Scoot Airline.
