Canada Jetlines president and CEO Eddy Doyle said: “The US is a major market for Canadian travellers and we are looking forward to expanding our international network.

“Jetlines is ready to start flying to the Melbourne/Orlando International airport in Florida and to the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, with both inaugural flights scheduled for January 19, 2023.”

The FAA clearance comes shortly after the economic authority granted by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT).

Recently, Canada Jetlines started a nonstop service to Vancouver, with the maiden flight hitting the skies on 9 December 2022.

In 2019, Canada Jetlines selected Vancouver International Airport (YVR) as its primary base.

The decision was based on YVR’s position as the second busiest airport in Canada.

It also received YVR’s guarantee for availability of all slots needed to run the initial network with its first two Airbus A320 aircraft.

In October this year, FAA gave the green light to the airport layout plan for Coleman A Young Municipal Airport (KDET) in Detroit.

This approved layout plan, which is KDET’s first in three decades, will make the airport eligible for federal grants of over $100m.
